It's that time of year again! Have an awesome mentor? Want to win them an award? Now's the chance to do so! It is time for nominations for the Ed Kroeger Mentorship Award that awards an outstanding mentor during Research Days in June. It's easy! Just fill out the form and submit it by Monday, May 6th at 4:00pm!
You are welcome to nominate a mentor as an individual or submit a group nomination. In your nomination it is recommended to include how your mentor has provided research guidance and assistance and impact on their graduate students. As the key important part of being a mentor is to prepare their students for the outside world it would be good to include how their mentorship has influenced your preparation for career decision making.
The fully student-governed Ed Kroeger Mentorship Award acknowledges current professors who have exemplified excellence in graduate and professional teaching and have been portrayed as noteworthy mentors.
Mentors, by the general sense are advisors, people with career experience willing to share their knowledge; supporters, people who give emotional and moral encouragement; tutors, people who give specific feedback on one’s performance; masters, employers to whom one is apprenticed; sponsors, sources of information in obtaining opportunities; models, of identity, generating mutual respect, trust, understanding and empathy.The HSGSA outstanding Mentorship Award recognizes and rewards exemplary mentoring efforts to professors who strive to enhance students’ abilities and potential.
